Determination of Serum Apolipoprotein A-I and B Levels in Healthy in Kang-Won Do
Yoon Tae-Hyun

Lee Kang-Ja
Abstract
Serum levels of apolipoprotein (apo)A-I and B were determined by an immunoturbidimetric assay. A total number of 100 samples were collected from apparently healthy males and females ranging in age from 20 to 59 years. The mean values of serum apo A-I were 149¡¾21§·/dl in males and 142¡¾18 §·/dl in females, APO A-I levels were slightly higher in males than in females except for the age 20-29 group. The mean values for serum apo B were 119¡¾57 §·/dl, in males and 76¡¾25 §·/dl in females, APO B levels were significantly (p<0.005) higher in males than in females before age 50. There was an age-related rise in apo B and A-I in males, but not in females before age 50, The apo B/apo A-I ratio was significantly higher in males than in females except for the age 20-29 group but in males no age effect was observed.
